How the show works:

Our strolling shows use colourful characters, playful antics and humorous banter to bring the imaginary world of the character to the real world of the audience. Using visual designs and interactive components we aim to create a setting in which people can experience the fun of play and feel the freedom to be silly.

Our strolling performances although structured in method have no structured content. All of our characters accept the world they find themselves in and try and fit in, be helpful and above all be loved by those they meet on their way.

The Sky Muffins will be out & about entertaining the crowds at the Opening Day of the Ashby Arts Festival.

A comedy performer is free to express without inhibition and has the ability to play with the freedom of a child. Cast off those social inhibitions and open up your funny side by simply by having fun and enjoying yourself.

With high energy exercises in a great group dynamic, the Aqueous Humour team will take you on a journey to the funniest part of you and before you know it you will be as happy as a frog in……………. (insert you own word here)

As adults we don’t get much time to play and explore our silly side. Get your laughing chops around this workshop and throw yourself into a little bit of the ridiculous.

The course is lead by our Artistic Director, Tom Hogan. It is suitable for students, professionals and non-professionals, adults 18+.

A one off cabaret special with three acts brought together for the first time for the Chorlton Arts Festival.

Bushpig is Aqueous Humour’s new musical comedy act. Mary-Lou Cougar is a southern states country girl and self-professed social commentator. She is so worldly, yet she still seems to kind of miss the point….

She sings her songs of ‘wisdom’ accompanied by her band of Bushpigs. Imagine Dolly Parton in a car crash with Alan Carr and you’ll be getting kind of close.

The Bradawls are a faux east european comedy band who take controversial themes and deliver them with an ironic lyrical twist. Combining elements of Klezmer, baroque, classical and hard core punk, this unrelenting troupe leave audiences feeling entranced, bemused angry and strangely at peace. currently making waves on the Burlesque and vaudeville scene, the Bradawls are a Chorlton staple not to be missed.

As part of Departure Lounge’s 10th anniversary season, the group are performing a series of improvised pub operas across the country between may and november 2011. Improvising a performance based on a well-known story with the assistance of the audience.

Promoters’ Information

Studio Salford, their In-House Companies, visiting companies (us) & special guests present an eclectic cabaret of performance work in development. Expect to see stand-up poetry, singer / songwriters, comedy, musicians, 10 min excerpts of scripts currently being written, short films, live bands and much more!

Bushpig will be performing at about 10pm. Tickets available on the door only.

Julia has worked for many wardrobe departments inc Opera North, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Sheffield Crucible, Manchester Commonwealth games, Liberty Theatre and Royal Exchange Theatre Company. Julia works from her home studio and has plans to concentrate on millinery. She recently become a finalist in ‘The Hat Designer of the year 2010 competition’ which was exhibited at Premiere Classe in Paris, and has a hat on show in ‘Decade Parade’ at the Hat Works Museum in Stockport. She plans to pursue individual commissions and create her own millinery designs using her love of colour and form.
